The General Assembly of the UNO proclaimed in their Resolution No. 44/82 of December 12, 1989 the year 1994 for the International Year of Family, following the principle, that the "family makes out the basic unit of the society, and therefore it earns a special attention". This theme is also expressed by the official symbol of the International Year of Family - a heart connected with another one and protected by a roof. The logo was designed by the artist from Vienna of Swiss origin - Cathérine Liittasy-Rollier. The family, sensitively perceived by a child´s soul and expressed in simple, but effective means is the main motif of our postage stamp. For the artistic design of the whole issue, the winning children´s works were used from the competition which was organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Public Works of Slovak Republic not only to recreate the production, but also to let speak about this theme these, who need the family atmosphere most.
