Danube was in the time of Roman kingdom northern border of empire which the Roman legions several times overstepped but through which they had to return again to their own territory. Fourhundred years neighbourhood todays Slovak territory and Romans border of Pannonia had multifarious form.

In the 173 Marcus Aurelius decided that Romans army penetrated again into barbarian territory. This time the army penetrated into our territory nearness confluence of Hron and Danube and progressed along the Hron. Quads let him to penetrate into theirs territory and on convenient locality where there wasn´t water, they surrounded him. The summer sun inflamed the armours of Romans fighters which they couldn´t fold because the arrows caused to unprotected soldiers hard hurts. Troubled them thirst, decreased their energy. The situation lasted five days and nights and Romans were desperate. Rescued thern intense summer storm and rain. By the Romans historian Cassius Dionus written in Greek, the thunder hit only barbarians, meanwhile Romans weren´t damaged. About the Miraculous rain said not only between soldiers but the story penetrated to the historical works. The legend is caught also in the historical relief on the pillar of Marcus Aurelius in Roma. The pillar was build by son of Marcus Aurelius Commodus to the celebration of triumphan wars.
