The European Championsbip in Figure Skating has come back to Bratislava, the capital of the Slovak Republic. After 28 years this town situated on the Danube river can welcome the best figure skaters of "the Old Continen»' and it will be just in the year of the 130th anniversary of organised skating in Slovakia.
We can speak about historical ties, because this championship is a sort of continuation of the International Skating Union (ISU) Championship, having taken place in this town as early as in 1958, 1966 and 1973 that have acquired a very good reputation among supporters of figure skating all over the world. We believe that the European Championship 2001 will hold out in this tradition and it will enable the further generation of figure skating supporters on the Ondrej Nepela Ice Ring to see top performances of this beautiful sport combining in it both sport and art.
