"I could stand near circus for hours even there was no performance yet. I loved circus for everything, what it meant." (E. B.)

Circus is a great historical phenomenon. It is characterised by the clown. By his mask. By the contrast between joy and sorrow. And by the big top full of colours and hope above it.
Emil Bačík was the artist of clowns and women. The artist of smile and drawings. Of posters, book illustrations, unforgettable trademarks of Makyta, Slovak Saving Bank and many others. He brought the fantasy of circus environment, the grace of child's face, the charm of woman's femininity. Also for this, he belongs to the great figures of the Slovak artistic manifestation.
Emil Bačik was born on May 4, 1929 in Piešťany. When the chestnuts bloomed. He studied at the University of Art Industry in Prague. He kept asking questions and formulating replies. He discovered many truths. Also thanks to them he created. He painted life and it's variants. He died suddenly in 1999.
