State Secretary - Ing. Igor Choma

Mr. Igor Choma received his degree in the field of Water Management and Water Structures at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava.

Before being appointed as the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Choma held various executive and leading positions.

From 1987 to 1999, he held several managerial positions in the construction company Váhostav, a.s. Žilina, later worked at BCI, a.s. and PROMA, a.s.

In the years 2006 to 2010 he was the chairman of the Board and Director General of the National Highway Company (NDS), in the years 2012 to 2016 he worked as chairman of the Supervisory Board in the NDS.

Between 2010 and 2020, he was chairman and vice-chairman of the Committee for Public Administration and Regional Development at the National Council of the Slovak Republic.

During the period 2010 - 2018 he served as the as the mayor of the city of Žilina (reelected in 2014) and in 2009 he also started to perform duty as a member of the Žilina Regional Assembly until 2017.

From 2019 to 2023, he held the position of member of the Board of Directors and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Váhostav, a.s. Bratislava.
