Tourism

The Tourism Section, in particular, is in charge of producing, implementing and evaluating strategic and conceptual materials for the development of tourism in the Slovak Republic and drafts proposals for generally binding legislation covering tourism. The section participates in creating of conditions for the development of tourism in Slovakia and for reinforcing the role the tourism industry plays in the national economy. In international co-operation, it is meeting the commitments of the Slovak Republic in international organisations, intergovernmental tourism associations and also under international treaties. In addition, it markets and promotes tourism in the country both locally and internationally and complies with government policy regarding a uniform presentation of Slovakia abroad. The section contributes toward the development of destination management in Slovakia as outlined in the Tourism Promotion Act, and accordingly manages a register of regional and local tourism organisations. It is also tasked with supporting the introduction of a national quality management system for tourism services.
