The investigation of accidents and incidents in civil aviation in Slovakia is based on the Article 18 Professional investigation of aviation accidents and incidents of Aviation Act No. 143/1998 of 2 April 1998.
This Act is harmonised with the Anex 13 to the ICAO convention
and the
Regulation (EU) No 996/2010 of the European Parliament and the Council of 20 October 2010 on the investigation and prevention of accidents and incidents in civil aviation and repealing Directive 94/56/EC.
According to the current legislation, the only objective of investigation into air accidents and incidents is finding effective preventive measures. The purpose of such a process does not involve assessing blame or liability for fault.
